Greetings Strong North Tahoe Member,

Thanks for being part of this growing neighbor-led effort. On Tuesday, we took a neighborhood walk through Kings Beach. We started at Tahoe Backyard with sunshine, good energy, and thoughtful conversation about what’s working — and what’s not.

Even if you couldn’t make it, you can still jump in. Here’s how.

🔍 What You Can Do Right Now

We introduced the new Report a Problem tool — a simple map where you pin places in Kings Beach and North Tahoe that need attention. You describe what’s wrong, what you or a neighbor could do next, and what should happen long-term.

One neighbor noticed the “S” falling off the post office sign. A short-term fix? Wire it back up. A better fix? Get the post office to weld it. This is how we build strength: you name the problem, take the next small step, and invite others to do the same.

🧭 What We Saw on the Walk

Guided by Andrew and Patricia, we strolled through town and saw a mix of hope and frustration.

🏘 Places that work: You’ve probably seen the transformation of Sierra Community House and Brown Bear Studios. They used to be rundown. Now they offer housing and support — and they show what’s possible.

🚧 Things in the way: Some buildings stay empty because rules around parking or sidewalks block progress. We asked: Do we need to shift priorities so it’s easier to bring life back first?

🏚 Empty spots that sit too long: Like the old Rite Aid. They could become something useful — but they’re stuck.

🛏 Fewer places to stay: Tourist units are leaving downtown. Visitors still come, but they don’t stick around or spend money. That hurts our businesses and our town.

💬 What You Can Do

You already walk these streets. You already notice what’s missing, broken, or stuck.
Now you can mark it on the map.

The more issues we pin, the more clearly we can see what needs doing — and who should take action. Whether that’s you, a neighbor, or the County, this map helps us organize what comes next.

🛠️ What’s Next: Join the June 4 Meetup

Our next meetup builds on what you report. We’ll talk about how to take action — even if you only have a few minutes. You’ll learn how to:
- Write or join a letter campaign
- Coordinate public comments with others
- Find out who’s responsible and how to get their attention

📅 Wednesday, June 4
🕕 6:00–7:30 PM
📍 Location: We’ll share it soon

Thanks for noticing what’s happening in your neighborhood — and for caring enough to act.

With appreciation,
