HOMEOWNERS RESOURCES
Workforce Housing Preservation Program
The Workforce Housing Preservation Program is designed to secure our existing East Placer housing inventory for the local workforce. Buyers are eligible for payment in exchange for deed restricting homes so they can only be occupied by local workers. The funding can help homebuyers with down payments or complete renovations.
First Time Homebuyer Assistance Program
This program provides flexible second mortgages to help families purchase their first home in the unincorporated areas of Placer County. The First Time Homebuyer Assistance Program loan can help make mortgage payments more affordable.
Martis Fund Down Payment Assistance Program
Martis Fund’s Homebuyer Down Payment Assistance Program provides down payment assistance for Tahoe/Truckee locals with household income at or below 180% of Placer County’s adjusted median income; this equates to roughly $205,020 for a family of four.
Loans of up to $100,000 are available to help families purchase their first home in the unincorporated areas of Placer County.
Building Accessory Dwelling Units in Tahoe Basin
Accessory Homes (ADUs) are allowed on parcels zoned to allow residential use in the Placer County portion of the Tahoe Basin.
Tahoe Housing Hub – ADU Accelerator Program
The Tahoe Housing Hub‘s ADU Accelerator Program helps homeowners navigate the process of building an ADU from start to finish. The program provides expert guidance on project planning, permit applications, construction management, as well as lease-up support. Homeowners can access these services at no cost, ensuring a streamlined experience from the initial design phase to leasing and beyond.`
East Placer Lease to Locals Program – Turn Your Vacation-Home into a Long Term Rental
Placer County has contracted with Placemate to incentivize long-term rentals in East Placer by converting underutilized homes into long-term rentals for local workers.
