Short-Term Rental (STR) Rules in Kings Beach, Tahoe City, Placer County

Report Issues 24/7: 530-448-8003

  • To report STR occupants violating the rules, call Placer’s 24/7 STR hotline at 530-448-8003

Quiet Hours: 9pm-8am

  • Quiet hours are from 9:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
  • No loud music or amplified sound outside at any time.

Fire Safety: No fires!

  • No open fires, bonfires, or campfires.
  • Gas/propane fireplaces and fire pits are allowed but must be at least ten feet from buildings and flammable materials.

Trash

  • Trash must be kept in bear-proof containers.
  • No trash or garbage should be left outside.

Occupancy

  • Only two people per bedroom are allowed, plus two extra people, up to 12 guests max.
  • During the day, 1.5 times the nighttime limit can stay.

Parking

  • All cars must be parked on the property, not on the street.
  • If there isn’t enough parking on the property, there should be a county-approved plan for off-site parking.

Events

  • No weddings, corporate events, or large gatherings unless they have a special permit.
